Who Is My Neighbour?
The story for this week is the famous parable about the Good Samaritan.
Jesus tells us about a traveler who met some robbers on his way from Jerusalem to Jericho. The traveler was hurt badly and left on the side of the road. A priest and a Levite passed by this wounded traveler, but they didn’t stop to help because they were afraid they might be attacked by robbers as well. However, a Samaritan stopped to help this traveler and made sure he was well taken care of.
This parable tells us, it is not our identities that are important, but our hearts. What is important is whether if we have love in our hearts to help. When our hearts are full with love, it doesn’t matter who it is, we will become a good neighbour to people that need help.
As we reflect on this story, let us think of how we can be good neighbours.
