God’s Generous Gifts
The story for this week is the parable of the generous landowner. It is the parable of a landowner who goes out early in the morning to find people to work in his vineyard for a day’s wage. The landowner went out several times during the day to find workers who have not yet been hired and told them to come work on his vineyard for a day’s wage.
When we first look at this parable, it doesn’t seem fair that those who started working early in the morning gets paid the same amount as the ones who only worked for one hour. However, we are reminded that it is up to the landowner to be generous with his money. We realize the generous landowner called people who could not find a place to work to come work on his vineyard. The landowner wanted to make sure everyone could go back home with enough money to feed their families.
When you read this story, what comes to mind when you think about generosity? What comes to mind about giving gifts? What about receiving gifts? We hope you enjoy reflecting on this week’s story!
