Friends Who Help

Stand Up and Walk

This week, we will be reading together the story of Jesus healing the man on the cot. News had been spreading of the wonderful teachings of Jesus; many people wanted to come listen and meet Jesus. There was a man who could not walk and his friends who also wanted to come meet Jesus, but the room was already full. So what did they do? They made a hole in the roof and lowered the man in front of Jesus! What determination!

A few things stand out from this story. Many people did not believe that Jesus had the authority to heal and forgive, but Jesus shows them that God gave Him the power to heal and to forgive sins. We also see the way people in this story showed faith: through the faith of the friends and the man and their desire to meet Jesus.

As you read the story this week, also reflect on how we show our faith. Enjoy!
