Dear Heavenly Lord. You are the creator of all…our rock and foundation. We thank you for this precious and much needed time of worship and praise. Amidst another week of lockdown and restrictions…and feeling down and anxious, we find ourselves lacking focus and motivation. But, you’ve called us today to reflect upon and be reminded of your perfect love. We confess that often we try to love with our own ability. As hard as we try, our love falls so short. It comes with conditions. It is often impatient and limited. It is blocked by our pride. We let our knowledge be a barrier and hindrance to loving each other. Unwittingly, we cause pain and hurt each other. You remind us that in all the things we do, it means nothing if not done with love. Help us examine our hearts. Help us receive your love, through which we are then able to love each other in response. Although we may not understand, give us faith to seek and accept your grace. Help us live a life of confidence, rooted in your love.
This past year of the pandemic has shrunken our lives. It’s caused division, hatred, fear and loneliness. Although the start of this new year has continued to keep us restricted, we pray for a momentum of hope to build. We pray for a resilient recovery…to emerge stronger and build upon the blessings you’ve opened our eyes to.
We continue to ask you for renewal and strength for our ministers, pastors, staff, leaders and our many volunteers. We pray for wisdom for our world leaders as they work to heal our nations from inequality and divisiveness. We pray for our St Timothy congregation. We pray for the health and well-being of our members: the new babies, young families juggling work and their children, hi-c and college groups feeling isolated, searching for their calling and forming the foundation of their faith, and our older generation dealing with health, death and aging parents. Help us bring our anxieties and burdens to you in prayer.
Prepare our hearts. Open our eyes and ears to your message today spoken through Rev Kim. Open wide our mouths and our hearts…Lord, we know you will fill it so we can look beyond ourselves and be a blessing to others.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
