Dear Lord:
We give ourselves to this day of worship and give you praise for your steady presence in our lives. May we continue to look toward you, our Saviour and Light, to live with confidence because you are always on our side. You protect us, you forgive us and love us over and over again even when we go astray. How wonderful in knowing this unconditional promise we have in You!
We particularly give you thanksgiving for sustaining us throughout this pandemic; being able to worship, having prayer meeting nights, bible studies and summer internship programs and in recent weeks, smaller fellowship gatherings. Although it may not be what we are used to, we acknowledge Your Grace in providing opportunities to still connect with one another and in unveiling the true meaning of this year’s theme Becoming Together.
We cannot thank you enough for these blessings, but as we look around the world, some countries and other communities within this city are still struggling with the pandemic with further economic, social and spiritual fallouts. We pray for safety, we pray for leaders to make decisions not out of self-interest but for the people and we pray for Your revelation to carry all people through the burdens of this current times. We lay these troubles upon your feet and lift up the most vulnerable and suffering people to You. May we become a church of awareness and a church of blessing to others near and far.
We ask for your Spirit of strength and wisdom as we have these small group activities in person throughout the summer months. We ask for your discerning wisdom to be with our staff and Session to make mindful decisions regarding our proposed re-opening in September.
At this time, we open our hearts to listen to the message delivered by Rev Kim. Enlighten our minds and our souls to hear your will and calling for each one of us. Help and guide us in your ways knowing you are our ultimate judge. As the scripture says, you are our sower and potter. Mold us, shape us to be a faithful, hopeful community of loving people.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
