Dear Lord,
We thank you for this precious time of worship and prayer. We’re now into October, another month of the pandemic which has continued to wreak uncertainty in our lives. We’re dealing with a new surge in Covid cases which continues to remind us life is not in our control and adds to our anxiety. Although this is around us, we are grateful for this time together and this community. We thank you for being with us as we plan forward and adjust to a hybrid method of worship; to combine safety and help us enjoy, where it makes sense, the blessing of meeting together in-person.
Together, we lift our prayers for this world. The world is broken. There is much division, inequality and injustice. There is suffering from health and mental worry. There is much need for your grace and mercy; there is a need for strength we find in making ourselves vulnerable and gaining confidence from sharing our brokenness with each other.
Help us move forward by first looking back and reflecting on the ways your hand has been in our lives. Through our unique stories of faith, we can begin to understand and experience your grace and mercy, making it real for us. We are so grateful that you have called us your children. We often forget when we most need to remember. Teach us who you are so we can understand ourselves. Reveal to us our calling so we can to live lives with passion and meaning.
We pray for our St Tim community. We pray for the new families with newborns and those with babies on the way that we’ve been blessed with. For the families with children that are now back in school, monitoring what is going on in their communities. For high school, college and university students that are thinking about their future. For new graduates and young adults concerned about their careers and their future in this modern and fractured world. For our older members who are anxious about health, aging and elderly parents. We lift our burdens to you and ask for the power we get from trusting in you.
We continue to pray for our devoted staff who carry a heavy burden for this community. Guide them with your vision and wisdom. Bless us by instilling the same deep concern and care they have cultivated for this community. Open our eyes to the needs around us. Be with us as we listen to your message delivered through your servant, Rev Simon about “Pressing Toward the Future”.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen
