Dear Loving God.
We thank you for another beautiful Sunday. We thank you for bringing us together, keeping us connected to each other and connected to you. We thank you for carrying us through another week. We think back on the many ways your Spirit and voice have guided us. We thank you for your faithfulness and the comfort and peace you provide even when we are not aware.
Lord, three months have passed since we started our physical distancing routines. In addition to the economic and financial impacts that have affected us from closing down our businesses, we’re also amidst protesting and unrest from the injustice of systemic racism that people globally are rising up against. We pray for your love during these times. We see a lot of hate and intolerance around us…we pray for unity as we strive to listen and understand. We are hopeful that through raising awareness and having productive, honest conversations, we will see positive change resulting from the tragic events we see over and over. We pray for faith and trust in your plan. Lord, as we develop plans to enter the next phase of re-opening, we ask for your guidance and wisdom to be with us in our preparation, and from this, we are confident we will come out more resilient, stronger and united.
We continue to pray for the weak and vulnerable who are suffering far more due to the uncertainty during these times. Open our eyes to the needs around us. Bless us with the gift of being aware and sensitive to the voices around us. Help us discover true happiness and joy that comes from a life that sees beyond focusing on ourselves. Help us discover the power of living a life that accepts and realizes that life is beyond our control. Help us discover the power that comes from putting our wholehearted faith and trust in you. Lord, we confess, this isn’t something we can do on our own. Give us the heart to search. Give us the heart to be patient and persistent as we journey with you. Give us the heart, the will, and the courage to change.
We are so grateful for our St Timothy community who allow us to feel your love and Grace daily. Let it continue to be a source of blessing for us. Let it continue to be a place we can go to lift each other up and support each other.
As always, we pray for our leaders, our ministers, staff…we thank you so much for them…for the constant work they do to respond to the needs of our community; for the heavy burden they feel for each one of us. Renew them and strengthen them. Be with Rev Kim as he blesses us with your message today about Hope. We ask that your word be the foundation upon which we live our lives.
We pray this in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
