Let us pray.
Lord, thank You for this New Year and the new hope You bring. Your Holy Spirit empowers us to overcome all of life’s challenges.
As COVID numbers continue to increase in Canada and across the world, may we not get disheartened and fearful, but may we turn our anxieties into prayer, knowing that prayer brings hope.
Many in our community are mourning the loss of a loved one; may You bring comfort and strength and fill their hearts with Your love, as it is even more difficult to mourn with one another, during this pandemic.
Lord, many were shaken by the events in Washington this week; be with our neighbours as they look to build their trust with one another and have hope for more unity and not division. Heal the anger and fear in their hearts and be with the leaders to restore justice and equality in their nation.
We pray that You be with those that are sick in our community; may Your strength and healing hands lead them to a strong and quick recovery.
Be with the parents, students and teachers as their remote learning will continue for at least another two weeks. Between work, their children’s schooling, lockdown – so many pressures are thrown at parents. At the end of each day, may You bless us all with good rest, ready for what the next day has in store.
Thank You, Lord, as with 2020, we were blessed with many healthy, new babies. Be with Grace Kim, Margaret and Sharon as they prepare to welcome new bundles of joy in the coming days and months. Strengthen them, protect them and keep them healthy, as they await the arrival of their new additions to the family and our community.
Lord, so many things are constantly running through our minds, it’s overwhelming. Let us remember again, to turn our worries into prayer. And with this new year, and our new theme, let us open our mouth wide, and You will fill it.
Our sighs are deep, but Your love and comfort are far deeper than we’ll ever know.
Thank You for our dedicated pastoral staff and volunteers who work so hard to keep us connected, keep us uplifted with beautiful music, keep us learning, keep us worshipping and keep us in spirit with one another. Bless them with Your wisdom and energy for this new year.
Be with Rev. Simon as he preaches Your Words on Repentance. May You open our ears and our hearts as Your teachings become real for our lives.
We thank You and we pray all these things in Your Name. Amen.
