“I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:12-13)
Lord, how touching and resonating your words of truth spoken through the Apostle Paul, especially at this time of strange thanksgiving we are experiencing for the first time.
Thanksgiving days we are familiar with and accustomed to have always been joyful days with abundance of foods and laughter around family dinner tables. Instead, at this strange time, Lord, concerns of family health and safety dominate, and uncertainty and anxiety overshadows festivity. We, therefore, Lord, seek and pursue thankfulness and joy in your grace and confess that the true peace and comfort come from you alone, Lord
Lord, as the fatigue has been setting in our mind, this pandemic has heightened and infiltrated the most fortified and protected offices of powerful nations, reminding and educating again that building walls & bubbles around oneself is not the solution but fostering cooperation & harmony beyond borders & ideology is. Lord, we pray that the leaders of this world heed what the global community is calling for; that is, the humanity has to be a united single community whether in developing vaccine or treatment or whether in implementing economic relief and stabilization. And, we thank you, Lord, for providing plenty reasons to be hopeful. In particular, Lord, we thank you for having nurtured the overflowing empathy in our own community.
Lord, in the midst of the current adversities, we have so many prayers to you. Thank you, Lord, for adding numerous new babies into this community. Although we have not been able to physically welcome and celebrate together, we ask you, Lord, to keep them in your caring arm in this uncertain time. We also pray for all our students from kindergarten to college & university. Not only learning is difficult under the circumstance but development of social skills and awareness are particularly challenging that we ask you, Lord, to provide the necessary wisdom and abide with them along their journey. Lord, this community has many aging parents who need your particular care. Not only the physical strength, but we ask you, Lord, to infuse the spiritual energy to enable them to ride the wave of this difficult and lonely time. Most of all, Lord, we pray for families and family members who may have been adversely affected in relationship, health, career, or finance. May your power of healing bring the necessary comfort and restoration.
We prayed in Jesus name,
Amen
