On Easter Sunday, a number of our members shared reflections on what Easter meant to them. It was a special Sunday – our first live service via Zoom. It was a wonderful celebration of community in the midst of physical separation. The Spirit of Christ was truly alive during a time of challenge and struggle.

If you had asked me in the past what came to mind when I thought of Easter, I would have mentioned looking forward to the extra long weekend off of work and the transition to warmer Spring weather. Because for those that know me, know that I love my sleep and I love the sun.
Of course I can’t forget the real meaning of Easter, the sacrifice that Jesus made for all of us. A sacrifice born out of love and for anticipation of better things to come.
As I reflect on what Easter means to me today, I can’t help but think about how the Covid virus has affected every aspect of our lives. In a time when fear and isolation have taken over, we need to hear words of love and hope, and Easter speaks these words to us. Easter reminds us of Jesus’ love and His hope in all of us.
This will be a year that we will never forget, but rather than focusing on what we don’t have, I think it’s more important than ever to express gratitude for the things that we do have and the community that we are apart of. For all of the parents juggling work while trying to keep their kids entertained, the students isolated from their friends, the anxious soon-to-be parents, the people working in the public and on the front lines, and everyone else doing their part.
Thank you to all of you. May this weekend bring us rest and sunny days ahead.
Happy Easter!

To me, Easter is a time to reflect on and celebrate God’s great love and sacrifice for us. It is a special time to recognize that God loves us so much that he suffered and died for us so that we can be with him and have a relationship with him. Easter is also about Jesus’s resurrection and victory over death. Resurrection means that we who are sinful can be made alive omg Christ because he carried our sins on the cross.

The meaning of Easter to me is of hope. Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice on the cross and died for our sins, and by believing in his resurrection, regardless of background, race, or ethnicity, we too can experience hope through faith in Him. During these unprecedented times, I’m reminded of the importance of faith, and I’m hopeful that we will get through this as a congregation, and as a society. And as we emerge on the other side, I’m hopeful that we will once again be able to enjoy the things in life that bring us joy, and seeing and embracing the ones that we love most. Jesus’ greatest gift to us was hope, and this is what the meaning of Easter brings for me this year.
