Seed and Soil

‘Hear then the parable of the sower. When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what is sown in the heart; this is what was sown on the path. As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet such a person has no root, but endures only for a while, and when trouble or persecution arises on account of the word, that person immediately falls away. As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the lure of wealth choke the word, and it yields nothing. But as for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.’

Memory Verse: “But as for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.” (Matthew 13:23)

Depending on the soil, it can either make the seed grow or kill it. The good soil is the soil that hears the word and understands it. To understand the word, first, there has to be a humble attitude. Second, there has to be a desire to understand the word. Third, we have to hear the word, meditate on it and continuously repeat it in our mind. It is God who gives us the understanding.

Lord, as I daily meditate on Your words, please give me the understanding.  Amen.

씨와 땅

그런즉 씨 뿌리는 비유를 들으라. 아무나 천국 말씀을 듣고 깨닫지 못할 때는 악한 자가 와서 그 마음에 뿌려진 것을 빼앗나니 이는 곧 길 가에 뿌려진 자요 돌밭에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 듣고 즉시 기쁨으로 받되 그 속에 뿌리가 없어 잠시 견디다가 말씀으로 말미암아 환난이나 박해가 일어날 때에는 곧 넘어지는 자요 가시떨기에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 들으나 세상의 염려와 재물의 유혹에 말씀이 막혀 결실하지 못하는 자요 좋은 땅에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 듣고 깨닫는 자니 결실하여 어떤 것은 백 배, 어떤 것은 육십 배, 어떤 것은 삼십 배가 되느니라 하시더라.

–     마태복음 13:18-23

암송구절: “좋은 땅에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 듣고 깨닫는 자니 결실하여 어떤 것은 백 배, 어떤 것은 육십 배, 어떤 것은 삼십 배가 되느니라 하시더라.” (마태복음 13:23)

땅이 어떤 땅인가에 따라 씨가 자랄 수도 있고 죽을 수도 있다. 좋은 땅은 말씀을 듣고 깨닫는 땅이다. 깨달음이 있으려면 첫째, 겸손함이 있어야 한다. 둘째, 깨닫고자 하는 갈망이 있어야 한다. 셋째, 그 말씀을 깊이 묵상하며 되새겨야 한다. 깨달음은 하나님께서 주시는 것이다.

주님, 매일 주의 말씀을 묵상할 때, 깨달음을 주소서. 아멘.
