Reflecting on our Mothers’ Love
On this Mother’s Day, a number of our young members shared their reflection on Mother’s Day.
Taylor Yoon
Mother’s Day to me means honouring our mothers because of all the things they did for us and all the love they gave to us. An example of when I felt my mom’s love is when she asks me to do something. for example, when she tells me to eat healthy, because she wants the best for me. This shows much love from her, because all moms only tells us to do something that benefits yourself. So let’s take this day to celebrate all the respect they gave us.

A mother’s love is unlike any other; it is truly a blessing commensurable to God’s grace.
A mother’s love is unconditional, unwavering in the face of adversity and the failures of life.
A mother’s love is supportive, accepting us for who we are and always fighting alongside us.
A mother’s love is self-sacrificial, unselfish and empathizes with our struggles and challenges.
A mother’s love is patient, constantly forgiving us and teaching us to become better people.
A mother’s love is staying up late at night to prepare the healthiest and nutritious meal for tomorrow.
A mother’s love is driving us to endless violin lessons, orchestra rehearsals and hockey practices.
A mother’s love is giving up her career aspirations in order to raise and nurture her family.
My mother’s love is something I am truly grateful for and something I honestly don’t deserve.
My mother’s love is inspiring and motivates me to become a better person, leader and son.
My mother’s love is something I couldn’t live without and is such a blessing in my life.
Happy mother’s day mom!

On my very first Mother’s Day, my eldest sister gifted me a book called, “Mums Are Like Buttons: They Hold Everything Together”. The book was filled with various famous quotes about motherhood, and I remember flipping through the pages and feeling like I had been accepted into an elite club that I had always longed to be a part of. Over the years, I’ve learned that a mother’s love, while steadfast and unconditional, isn’t always how I pictured love to be. To me, a mother’s love means enduring sleepless nights, reading the same story 100x over, picking up 1000s of Legos off the floor, eating breakfast that consists mainly of crust and leftovers, putting career aspirations on hold…in the truest sense, it has been fully and willingly putting my children’s needs above my own. A mother’s love has meant being Jonathan and Cameron’s greatest supporter, wanting them to succeed and strive in all that they do. Praying for their health and happiness and praying that I can be the best version of myself for them. Wanting them to have more, even if it means that I have less. Being a mother has taught me the ultimate meaning of sacrifice, has taught me how much love I have to give, and more importantly has shown me how much greater His love is for me.
