Being a Compassionate Community
We strive to be a community that stands in solidarity with the weak and vulnerable. Our God is a compassionate God who hears the cries of the weak and vulnerable, whose hearts stirs at injustice. This God was revealed most intimately through the life and death of Jesus Christ. He came to minister to the marginalized, the outcasted, those who were hurting and rejected.
In our striving to be more like Christ, so do we strive to love like Christ did. The word compassion stems from the Latin words “com” and “passion” – to suffer with. To suffer with means to feel what those who suffer feel. It also means to speak out and stand against injustice that causes suffering.
May God lead us in becoming a compassionate community.
