What God Wants from Us

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

Happy are those who make the Lord their trust, who do not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after false gods. You have multiplied, Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts towards us; none can compare with you. Were I to proclaim and tell of them, they would be more than can be counted.

Sacrifice and offering you do not desire, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt-offering and sin-offering you have not required.

–     Psalm 40:1-6

Memory Verse: “Sacrifice and offering you do not desire, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt-offering and sin-offering you have not required.” (Psalm 40:6)

God does not want money from us. God wants from us, first of all, our thankful attitude, remembering all the wonderful things God did for us. Then God wants us to live our lives according to the will of God.

Lord, I give my heart to you. Amen.

하나님께서 원하시는 것

내가 여호와를 기다리고 기다렸더니 귀를 기울이사 나의 부르짖음을 들으셨도다. 나를 기가 막힐 웅덩이와 수렁에서 끌어올리시고 내 발을 반석 위에 두사 내 걸음을 견고하게 하셨도다. 새 노래 곧 우리 하나님께 올릴 찬송을 내 입에 두셨으니 많은 사람이 보고 두려워하여 여호와를 의지하리로다. 여호와를 의지하고 교만한 자와 거짓에 치우치는 자를 돌아보지 아니하는 자는 복이 있도다. 여호와 나의 하나님이여 주께서 행하신 기적이 많고 우리를 향하신 주의 생각도 많아 누구도 주와 견줄 수가 없나이다 내가 널리 알려 말하고자 하나 너무 많아 그 수를 셀 수도 없나이다. 주께서 내 귀를 통하여 내게 들려 주시기를 제사와 예물을 기뻐하지 아니하시며 번제와 속죄제를 요구하지 아니하신다 하신지라.

–     시편 40:1-6

암송구절: “주께서 내 귀를 통하여 내게 들려 주시기를 제사와 예물을 기뻐하지 아니하시며 번제와 속죄제를 요구하지 아니하신다.” (시편 40:6) 

하나님께서 원하시는 것은 우리의 물질이 아니다. 하나님께서는 먼저 우리가 하나님께서 우리에게 하신 일을 기억하며 감사하는 것이다. 또한 하나님께서는 우리가 하나님의 뜻을 위하여 살기를 원하신다.
