The short reflection below is written by Marcello Na. Enjoy 🙂
For me, the definition of “to serve” had been understood as “being undermined or being used.” However, through Reverend Kim’s guidance, this year’s theme – “Serving is Living” – was freely explored in group discussions.
Unlike the previous years, at this year’s retreat we searched our own truth in the parables and verses from the Bible. Discussing “why” we should serve others and how serving each other can better transform our Christian living gave me a chance to re-evaluate my outdated thinking.
On our second day, during the session on Biblical Spirituality, the words tapped into my own insecurities, difficulties and fear in understanding the true messages that are hidden in the Bibles.
After several Q&A sessions, I was able to realize that the words of the Bible can help us to be truly free and that we can connect with others more meaningfully by serving.
